Three hurt in Bangladesh shrine attack

Three men were injured in a bomb attack at a shrine in north-east Bangladesh late Saturday, police said. The three suffered minor injuries in the attack at the shrine of a revered Sufi saint in Habiganj, police sub-inspector Akhlak Hussein said. A large crowd of Muslims had gathered at the shrine to mark the death anniversary of the Sufi, he said.
Police were unable to say what the motive for the attack was. In February last year the government banned two groups after blaming them for a series of attacks on shrines, musical events, cinemas and other targets.
Shaikh Abdur Rahman, leader of one of the banned groups-Jamayetul Mujahideen Bangladesh - was arrested on Thursday.
