Pakistan Muslim League-N, Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat and Therik-e-Insaf staged protest demonstrations in different areas to condemn the publication of blasphemous sketches of Holy Prophet (PBUH) by some European newspapers.
The PML-N organised a peaceful rally in Vehari town, in which more than 1000 activists of MMA and PML-N also participated. The protestors chanted slogans against the governments of USA, Israel and Denmark and torched an effigy of US President George Bush and flags of Israel, Denmark and the USA.
Begum Tehmina Daultana MNA speaking on the occasion criticised the government policies, which she believed, caused increasing lawlessness, price hike and economic instability in the country.
She declared that any possible attack on Iran by USA would amount to attack on the entire Muslim world and vowed to resist it.
She called grave situation in Balochistan and Waziristan as conspiracy to divide the country for facilitating 'influence' of Washington.
She described 'troika' of USA-India-Israel as move against China, Iran and Pakistan. The PML-N leader claimed that days of General Pervez Musharraf had numbered.
Haji Tufail Waraich of MMA said that by holding 100pc successful strike on March 3 across the country, people of Pakistan had demonstrated against the policies of George Bush and General Pervez Musharraf.
He believed that Muslims had no weapon except solidarity to protect their civilisation. He pointed out that President Musharraf used to say that the policies initiated by him after 9/11 had enhanced the image of the country and that these policies were in the interest of the country but by not making any agreement with Pakistan in defence, energy and economy, the US President had proved these claims as hollow. "Bush during his visit to Pakistan treated General Musharraf nothing more than a subordinate and the country as slave," he claimed.
Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat also staged a demonstration led by Allama Hamid Saeed Kazmi, ex-MNA and more than 200 activists joined it. He apprehended that US would attack on Iran and divide it through Baloch nationalism. He alleged that 'new state' was being created in Northern Areas.
"It was test of political leadership to ponder over this situation and foil such nefarious designs through unity," he suggested.
