Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has said that thumping success of PML candidates in the Senate elections is reflective of the faith in the policies of the government.
While due to impressive performance of the government, important personalities of other political parties would also be seen with the PML, which would result in further strengthening of the party.
He was addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, in which PML-N's spokesman Furrukh Shah announced his decision to join PML. The Chief Minister said that fruits of reforms introduced in education, health and other sectors have started reaching the masses. Promotion of tourism is an important feature of the policies of the government, he added.
According to him, the government has started Health Sector Reforms Programme for the provision of modern medical facilities to the citizens and under this programme rural and basic health centers as well as Tehsil and district headquarters hospitals are being upgraded.
Emergency service of hospitals has been improved and free medical facilities are being provided to the patients. Police patrolling posts are playing an important role in safety on highways. A special centre has been set up for the rehabilitation of beggar children in Lahore while similar institutions would be set up in other big cities as well.
He said that Chaudhry Akram has been appointed as Chairman Media Task Force and Furrukh Shah as Media Advisor. He said that Furrukh Shah would play an important role for creating awareness in the people about the development measures taken by the government during the last three years, besides highlighting the benefits of reforms programme introduced by Muslim League with a new vigor and vision.
Media Advisor Furrukh Shah said that he has joined PML, as he was deeply impressed with the performance of present government. He said there was no pressure on him in this regard and he himself contacted the Chief Minister and decided to join this party. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and held out an assurance that he would come up to his expectations.
