Speaker National Assembly Chaudhry Amir Hussain and Deputy Speaker Sardar Muhammad Yaqoob have congratulated the 37 elected Senators from Punjab, Sindh, NWFP and Balochistan.
In their separate messages to the elected senators of the PML (Q), MMA and others from the four provinces, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker said that their election to the Upper House was an evidence of trust and confidence people had reposed in them.
They expressed hope the newly elected members would play an active role in legislation and strengthening of democratic norms and institutions in the country.
Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan congratulated the newly elected Senators and hoped and prayed that they would utilise their best abilities for progress and unity of the country and inter-provincial harmony.
