The Lahore High Court (LHC) while dismissing a petition filed by the Jamaat-i-Islami Ameer Qazi Hussain Ahmed against his detention has directed him to approach the relevant authority for redressal of his grievance.
The court also observed the respondent Home Secretary would decide the matter within a week's time. The applicant contended that the detention orders issued by the respondent Home Secretary were illegal and without lawful authority. He said the respondent issued those orders only to politically victimise him. He prayed to the court to declare his detention orders as illegal and without lawful authority.
The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel Dr Farooq Hasan at length, dismissed the petition.
NOTICES ISSUED TO RTA: The LHC has issued the notices to the Secretary of Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Faisalabad for March 20 with direction to submit his reply.
The court passed these orders in a petition filed by some Van owners including Nadir Ali. It was contended that the respondent had issued route permit from Faisalabad to Narowal, but illegally and without lawful authority, he changed the route and was not allowing their vehicles to enter into Faisalabad City.
It was submitted that the respondent was treating them discriminatory, as he was not allowing entry of their vehicles while the buses of other transporters were being allowed to enter the city. It was contended that that action of the respondent was illegal, discriminatory and without lawful authority.
