The Hyderabad DCO Muhammad Sharif Awan has stressed upon the organisations, working for the betterment of women, to bridge the gap in between urban and rural women to bring them into mainstream for making equal participants in the society.

Addressing the seminar as chief guest, the Hyderabad DCO said traditionally women day were being celebrated in all big cities, leaving the rural women unaware about their rights and responsibilities. He said due to rural and so called tribal cultures; the rural women were experiencing many social and economic problems including menace of Karo-Kari.
Sharif Awan said multidimensional efforts were needed to save the rural women from miserable condition. He added patronising and encouraging the women folk was very much essential to make them aware of their potential, rights and responsibilities.
He said it was the only present government that started political empowerment for women by fixing their considerable reserve seats in the parliament and local councils. He said the district government Hyderabad has also given representation to the women in different fields.
While comparing the status of women, the DCO Hyderabad said due to support and religious protection, the women in our country were more privileged then western countries but improper implementation of rules; tribal & traditional customs, ignorance and illiteracy were the main hurdles in the betterment of women. He said Islam was the only religion, which provides all rights to each and every individual and by following the Islamic teaching we could solve all our social problems. He said the education among the womenfolk was very much essential, as education was the key to success. We need educated and best mothers to make the nation further best. He said the NGOs and opinion leaders should work more for the girls' education and arrange informative programmes specially, for rural areas.
He also said the district government Hyderabad was also giving top priority to the girls' education and encouraging them to increase literacy rate among the women folk. He said the establishment of women industrial homes, and vocational training centres were the steps of the district government to enable them earning their livelihood.
