Zila Nazim Hyderabad Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said the district government Hyderabad would encourage any organisation or NGO providing health facilities to the ailing people.
This he said while visiting District Police Charity Hospital (which was established by the management of Regional Police on self-help basis at Police Line Hyderabad) on Tuesday.
On the occasion, the Zila Nazim said that in addition to running its own 62 small and big hospitals, the district government Hyderabad was also helping other hospitals of NGOs and an amount about Rs 50 million had been provided to such organisations during financial year of 2005-2006 under S.D.S.S.P.
The Zila Nazim, lauding Sindh police efforts in providing health facilities to the needy people, asked the management to keep it up for which district government Hyderabad would also extend it financial as well as administrative support to them in the interest of common people.
He announced Rs 500,000 for on-going works and providing lacking facilities and assured that such financial support would be continued in future.
The Zila Nazim stressed upon the other government and non-government organisations to come forward and help the ailing people by providing health facilities to them as government alone could not able to cater the needs of total population.
However, he said that charity hospitals must be charity in practical and should adopt simple procedure so that every common people could be able to avail of the facilities.
The Zila Nazim also visited Industrial Home, Police Technical Centre where he was briefed that those centres had been established for the skill development of the private people and police personnel as well.
RPO Muhammad Bachal Sangri, DIG Mazhar Shaikh and Medical Superintendent District Police Hospital Dr Ziauddin Anwar Memon briefed the Zila Nazim about the hospital project and other income generating and skill development activities being carried out by district police. Besides DPO Hyderabad Ali Ahmed Junejo, Incharge DIB Shabir Baloch and other police officers were present on this occasion.
DCO Hyderabad Muhammad Sharif Awan said the district government in collaboration with Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (HCCI) was planning to organise Hyderabad International Trade Fair (HITF) 2006 during the months of October and November 2006 to boost up Hyderabad economy by introducing local products in the international market.
Addressing the meeting, the DCO Hyderabad said that six countries including India, Sri-Lanka, Iran, China, Nepal and Bangladesh had confirmed their participation in the trade fair, while consent of many other countries was being awaited, he added.
He said Hyderabad had expertise in manufacturing of bangles, automobile, handicrafts, garments and ceramics, and introduction of those products into international market was very much essential not only to boost up Hyderabad economy but introduce Hyderabad as international city where expo exhibition and such trade fair were being organised by international organisations in routine.
He said the district government Hyderabad under the leadership of Kanwar Naveed Jamil had planned multi-dimensional programmes to convert Hyderabad into a modern city.
The meeting discussed various matters pertaining to international trade fair include selection of venue, provision of lodging to foreign delegates, providing fool proof security and facilities of electric and water supply at the venue.
HCCI President Masood Pervaiz while lauding the efforts of Zila Nazim Hyderabad for encouraging industrialists in the city said it had proved an incentive to the industrialists.
He further said the purpose of holding international trade fair at Hyderabad was to introduce unique productions of Hyderabad in the international market and to draw the attention of investors towards business of Hyderabad.
He said that such activities would also open the new avenues of business in the city. HCCI vice president Amin Khatri and Kausar Bhatti were also present in the meeting.
Kanwar Naveed Jamil has formed a four-member task force headed by DCO Hyderabad to know that up to what extend the rules and regulation of WHO were being implemented in four hundred poultry farms in the district. This task force assigned to register the poultry farms, identify the bird flue virus and to ensure proper implementation of WHO rules in the poultry farms. This he decided while presiding over meeting to discuss about the reports about bird flu virus at Circuit House Hyderabad.
He said that EDO Health Dr Nazar Muhammad Junejo would be the Secretary while EDO Agriculture Shuhabuddin Siddiqui, District Officer Poultry Development Hyderabad Dr Muhammad Asghar Arain, and member Poultry Association Hyderabad Muhammad Farooque Qureshi would be the members of this task force.
Addressing the meeting, the Zila Nazim said that district government Hyderabad was very much conscious about the health of people as such it intend to ensure supply of healthy and pure eatable items to them.
He further directed the members of task force to ensure that all the poultry farms were being vaccinated with the provision of standard feeding and trained workers according to requirement of WHO. He also directed that no person above 60 years of age or immature child be allowed to work at poultry farms, beside proper training and uniform to workers should also be ensured at each poultry farm. He also asked the concerned management to conduct seminars and other informative programmes for the awareness and information of the people about poultry farming.
The District Officer Poultry Development Hyderabad Dr Muhammad Asghar Arain informed that meeting that as many as 400 poultry farms were available in the district. He said that blood samples from 351 poultry farms were sent to the Islamabad for laboratory test out of which the result of 290 poultry farms showed the bird flu virus as nil.
While result of remaining farms was being awaited. He assured the meeting that the instruction of Zila Nazim would be fully implemented and strict vigilance would be made over the eventuality of bird flu if any in the district and people would be informed accordingly.
DCO Hyderabad Muhammad Sharif Awan and EDO Health, EDO Agriculture, DO Poultry Farm Development and other concerned officers and responsible attend the meeting. Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said that further legislation and implementation over existing laws with latter and spirit was needed to protect the women rights within Islamic framework.
This he observed while addressing a seminar on "Violence over women" organised by community development department at multipurpose child welfare centre Wahdat Colony Hyderabad on Monday.
He said that Islam is the complete code of life which provides all rights and responsibilities to each human being and by following the teaching of Islam we can over come all problems of the society. He said that due to unawareness and illiteracy, 50 percent women population of the world was being exploited and this trend in Pakistan and other developing countries was at high.
He said that this state of affairs has created multidimensional problems especially for the women, and made them dependent of male. He said since the women were the help of our population as such their dependency over male was also affecting our development programmes and gross national production.
He said that we all were duty bound to do our self-best for the betterment of women.
However, he made it clear that change could not be achieved in a night for which continuous struggle was needed. He also announced that district government Hyderabad would organise a seminar on national level to highlight women problems and discuss plan betterment of women.
Earlier, Kashif Siddiqui from Agha Khan Education, Shahid Zubedi, and Asma Naz also spoke on the occasion. The Zila Nazim later visited handicraft exhibition announced Rs 100,000 for the vocational centre in multipurpose child welfare centre for purchase of equipment.
