Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology, Dr Muhammad Khalid Masood said on Wednesday that publication of blasphemous sketches in certain European newspapers reflect the mental confusion on part of perpetrators at a time when the world is moving towards globalisation.
In their move towards globalisation some people in the West are not able to determine the status of religious and moral values, the CII Chairman said while speaking in a PTV programme.
He said, entire West cannot be blamed for misdeeds of some confused people adding it complies on scholars both from the West and Muslim world to think out an acceptable model of interfaith harmony.
Mere launching of protest by the Muslims and extending apologies by the Western leadership would not serve the purpose, he said.
He said, the publication of blasphemous sketches has not only hurt and surprised the Muslims but also the civilised people in the west. So it is common responsibility of leadership in the west and the Muslim world to evolve a joint strategy to ensure effective check on such activities, he said.
