Wheat futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were mostly higher at midmorning on Wednesday, supported by concerns about dry weather in the US Plains, traders said.
The Kansas City wheat market set the tone, leading CBOT wheat higher on concerns that rains this week would skip the driest areas of the hard red winter wheat belt.
As of 11:40 am CST (1740 GMT), CBOT May wheat was up 1/2 cent at $3.81-1/2, with deferred months up 1/2 to down 1 cent. Fimat, Refco-Man and J.P. Morgan each bought 200 to 300 May contracts, while R.J. O'Brien bought 300 July and 100 May, traders said.
