Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) engineers have underlined the need for provision of maximum facilities to its consumers and vowed to continue their hard work for the uplift of the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco).
The assurance was given by the engineers in the general body meeting of the Wapda Engineer Association (WEA) with its President Engr Qurban Ali Khan in the chair.
The Association members from across the province discussed in detail various problems confronting Wapda engineers.
The meeting unanimously passed a resolution demanding reinstatement of SDO Hameed Gul and maintained that the termination was totally against the service rules. It was also demanded that the services of the contract engineers should be regularised as per clear instruction of the chairman Wapda.
Issuance of unnecessary show-cause and charge-sheets notices to the officers creates tension in their rank, members complained and demanded redress of these problems on emergency basis.
Engr Qurban Ali Khan, on this occasion, assured that all the genuine demands of the engineers would be discussed shortly with the chairman Wapda and Federal Power and Water Minister Engr Amir Muqam.
Qurban Ali underscored the need for holding seminars and workshops on quarterly basis to help equip engineers with modern day needs which would improve the performance of the company.
