Raw sugar futures sagged from another bout of commodity fund sales to end lower Thursday and the weak tone could lead to more falls in the market before the end of the week, brokers said.
The New York Board of Trade's May raw sugar contract dropped 0.34 cent or 2.0 percent to finish at 16.28 cents a lb, moving from 16.19 to 16.75 cents. July lost 0.35 to 15.98 cents. The rest fell from 0.25 to 0.32 cent.
Volume before the end of trade hit 31,261 lots, from the previous tally of 45,645 contracts. In the options ring, call volume hit 8,836 contracts and put volume was at 6,944 lots.
