A high-level meeting on Friday reviewed security situation in the troubled North Waziristan and Khyber Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata). Governor NWFP Khalil-ur-Rehman presided over the meeting held at the Governor's House.
Those who attended the meeting included chief secretary Ejaz Ahmad Qureshi, IGFC Major General Muhammad Alam Khattak and Secretary Fata Muhammad Shahzad Arbab.
The meeting while taking stock of the security situation in North Waziristan Agency and Khyber Agency resolved that lives and properties of the people in both the areas would be protected. Similarly, the ongoing efforts for strengthening writ of the government would be made result-oriented.
The governor issued directives to the respective government functionaries in this regard and urged that the political process should also be equally applied in the process of restoration of peace and normalcy.
Meanwhile, Corps Commander, Peshawar, Lieutenant General Muhammad Hamed Khan called on Governor Khalil-ur-Rehman at the Governor's House here on Friday.
He remained with the governor for some time and discussed various matters with special reference to the law and order and security situation in Fata and the province.
