Pakistan and China have finalised certain modalities to enhance their existing cooperation in the field of fisheries. It was agreed that the governments of the two countries will exchange scientific/technical information and arrange visits of scientists, technical workers as well as personnel from private enterprises.
Modalities of cooperation also include transfer of relevant technologies training and study tours and encourage establishment of join ventures in fish processing, fish and shrimp farming.
Under an agreement signed between the two governments during the recent visit of President Pervez Musharraf to China, the two sides will also support the private sectors to enhance mutually beneficial co-operative partnership in the fisheries sector.
Official sources told APP here on Friday that the two sides have also earmarked areas of co-operation, that include inland fisheries development, fresh water fish farming, coastal fisheries development, shrimp and fish farming in coastal areas, fish processing and marketing, fisheries research and technology development, fisheries management and shrimp farming management.
