Punjab PML-N President Zulfiqar Ali Khosa has lamented the government for failing to foresee the sugar and poultry crisis and consequently made the mess of it.
He expressed these views while addressing a press conference here on Saturday to announce the joining of Chaudhry Raza Guman, former Naib-Nazim of Faisalabad, after leaving the ruling party PML-Q. The PML-N leaders Rana Sanullah, Pervaiz Malik, and others were also present on the occasion.
Khosa said the government only acted after the sugar prices had climbed to Rs 42 per kg; the late action had put common man in miseries. "Similarly, the government did nothing when 'bird flu' had hit India, it should have prepared itself for the possibility of bird flu arrival in the country. Consequently, when the bird flu hit the country, the ill-prepared government could only watch and do nothing. The government's lethargic attitude has cost the poultry sector billion of rupees. It would be appropriate to announce compensation to the affectees, in order to give them relief," he added.
He also criticised the government for failing to control law and order situation in the country. He also said that train accident has become a routine matter under this government, and ironically no one has been held responsible for such accidents in which many innocent lives have lost.
Khosa accused the government of victimising the members of the opposition parties after the February violent protest. He was of firm view that the government was wrongly playing with the incident to harass the opposition particularly the PML-N and the arrest of Saad Rafique and Zaeem Qadri proves that "What may come, we would not change our loyalties," he added.
On the occasion, Chaudhry Raza praised the party for its stand against the ruling party and sticking to its commitments and principles. He said the ruling party was not a political party, but a crowd of opportunists.
