Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has asked Ministry of Foreign Affairs to develop holistic relationship with key countries of the world covering security, defence, economic, cultural and religious aspects.
The Prime Minister was chairing a meeting at the Prime Minister's House on Saturday to review the goals and targets of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and discuss Pakistan's relations with key countries.
The Prime Minister said that Ministry of Foreign Affairs should take steps to strengthen capacity in specialised areas.
He appreciated the role played by the Foreign office in projecting Pakistan's point of view and its position as a country committed to peace, progress and development at various international fora.
Emphasising the need for developing strategic relations with key countries, Shaukat Aziz asked Foreign Office to prepare a long-term strategy to meet the objective.
Referring to the issue of blasphemous caricatures, the Prime Minister appreciated the performance of Foreign Office and Foreign Missions in projecting the viewpoint of Pakistan and Muslims in an affective manner.
He also appreciated Foreign Office and Foreign Missions for highlighting the plight of earthquake affectees as well as for their contribution in the donors conference.
The meeting was attended among others by Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Minister of State Foreign Affairs and senior officials.
