Member National Assembly Malik Ghulam Murtaza Maitla has unanimously been elected as Chairman National Assembly standing committee on Water & Power here on Saturday.
The office of the chairman standing committee was lying vacant as the former chairman Sardar Saleem Jan Mazari had been elected District Nazim. MNA Muhammad Asghar Shah proposed his name and Dr Abdul Qadir Khanzada, MNA seconded it, a press release said.
Additional Secretary National Assembly Muhammad Rafiq conducted election of committee. MNA Malik Ghulam Murtaza Maitla thanked the government and his fellow MNAs for reposing confidence in him by electing him as the chairman of the standing committee. He assured that he would come up to their expectations and with their concerted efforts he would make this committee useful, effective and purposeful in guiding ministry to achieve its objectives.
The committee members extended their fullest support to the chairman and appreciated the services of former chairman in conducting the proceedings of committee.
Among the members who attended the meeting included MNAs, Syed Khursheed Ahmad Shah, Dr Abdul Qadir Khanzada, Abdul Rauf Mengal, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Muhammad Asghar Shah, Sardar Shahjehan Yousaf, Maulana Muhammad Qasim, Sardar Naseerullah Khan Dreshak, Chief Whip.
