The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has pledged to continue struggle for the restoration of genuine democracy besides ensuring fundamental rights to the people as well as supremacy of the parliament.
"The PML-N under the leadership of former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif will continue its efforts for the supremacy of the parliament, restoration of real democracy in Pakistan", Rana Mehmood-ul-Hassan, MNA, Rana Noor-ul-Hassan Ex-MPA, Nafees Ansari, MPA, Imtiaz Gulzar Chattan said while addressing a meeting at PML-N Multan city office.
They demanded for an immediate release of Khwaja Saad Rafiq, MNA and Makhdoom Javed Hashmi, MNA and allowing Mian Nawaz Sharif to come back to home. They condemned the government for putting political opponents behind the bars who were protesting the publication of blasphemous cartoons in a peaceful manner.
They said the country was passing through a critical phase as military operation has been launched in the tribal areas where innocent people were being targeted by gunship helicopters.
He said US President George Bush had announced his support to Kabul and Delhi during his recent tour to South Asia while the government has launched military operation in North Waziristan Agency just to please the US.
"The whole nations asks the government why the country's interests have been put on stake and for whom", they said. Rana Mehmood-ul-Hassan alleged President General Pervez Musharraf has put Pakistan at risk in order to remain in power as a civil war situation was prevailing in two provinces.
Tehmina Daultana said the present government had isolated the country at global level due to which severe crisis prevailed. She said people were being killed in Balochistan and NWFP in the name of 'war on terror', which was deplorable. He said the opposition was united on a platform and determined to continue its struggle for the restoration of real democracy as well as supremacy of the parliament.
