Minister for Religious Affairs Ejaz-ul-Haq has said that a realisation is emerging in Western media that publication of blasphemous material against any religion should be avoided.
Ejaz-ul-Haq, who recently visited European Union's Headquarters in Brussels at the head of a parliamentary delegation, was talking to a private television channel.
During the visit the delegation held 16 meetings with parliamentarians and officials and members of think tanks at the EU headquarters.
The minister said all interlocutors were against publication of defamatory material and appreciated the efforts of the parliamentary delegation.
It was the first parliamentary delegation from an Islamic country to undertake a visit for a dialogue to promote interfaith harmony.
To a question he said the Europeans they met were supportive of the idea of international legislation against maligning any religion.
They favoured a UN resolution on the initiative of the OIC and suggested some amendments to the draft, which the Islamic body has already presented to the EU, Ejaz-ul-Haq said. Their opinion was that a draft resolution should include all faiths, he added.
He said the parliamentary delegation also met the ambassadors of Islamic countries at EU during which the need of a joint forum to work for removal of misperceptions about Islam in the Western countries was emphasised.
