KESC has not increased electricity tariff of its industrial, commercial, residential and agricultural customers since June 2004, as it has no authority to raise the tariff, said KESC spokesman in a press release here on Sunday.
He said that since last three years furnace oil prices increased by 95.5 percent (from Rs 10,897.39 to Rs 21,303.35 per M tones) while natural gas prices became higher by 45 percent (from Rs 166.18 to Rs 240.91 MMBTU).
On the basis of raise in the input costs for electricity generation, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority makes quarterly tariff adjustments and since June 2004 made five adjustments, including the recent paisa 23 in the tariff.
But, the Government of Pakistan has not allowed these increases in consumer tariff, he added.
The KESC spokesman assured its industrial, commercial, residential and agricultural customers that the corporation would not increase the electricity tariff as the notification had not been issued by the federal government for the present adjustments.-PR
