The Poultry Development Department, Hyderabad, has informed that the cause of the death of chickens in some poultry farms of the district was the result of New Castle and Infectious Bursal viral diseases.
The New Castle and Infectious Bursal are viral diseases, and there is no threat of 'bird flu' in Hyderabad, Poultry District Officer Dr Muhammad Asghar told APP.
He said because of improper vaccination, the viral diseases of New Castle and Infectious Bursal can cause death of 80 percent of chickens in any poultry farm.
Dr Asghar said a departmental team was dispatched to affected poultry farm which had collected samples of different kinds of chickens, and dispatched the same to the Poultry Research Institute, Korangi, Karachi, and the National Agriculture Research Centre, Islamabad, for laboratory tests.
