Soomro's conduct prompts opposition to stage walkout

The combined opposition in Senate on Sunday staged a walkout from the house against the attitude of newly elected Senate Chairman Muhammadmian Soomro. They staged a walkout from the house after completion of the election process of Senate chairman and deputy chairman.
They criticised the chair's role and accused him of having double standards: one for treasury and the other for opposition.
The house witnessed noisy scene when Mian Raza Rabbani was speaking in the house and was intercepted by the chair. Opposition was of the view the chair did not interfere when the Prime Minister was speaking.
Later, they came in front of the chairman's dice and argued with him. PPPP senator Dr Safdar Abbasi exchanged hot words with the Senate chairman and staged a walkout from the house.
Meanwhile, treasury benches later approached the opposition but they refused to come into the house and continued their boycott.
Treasury benches strongly condemned the attitude of opposition and said they should not have done this. Some of them were of the view that the government should not approach them and let them out from the house. They also demanded an apology from the opposition particularly from Dr Safdar Abbasi.
