The government has allocated a huge amount of Rs 545.9 million for completion of 78 health schemes to provide better medical facilities to the people of Fata.
The government has allocated Rs 81.885 million for 14 new health projects and Rs 64.015 million for 64 ongoing health schemes in ADP 2005-06 for Federally Administered Tribal Areas, official sources in Directorate Health Fata told APP here on Sunday.
A blood bank at agency headquarters Khar Bajuar Agency would be completed shortly to help the ailing humanity to fight against fatal blood related diseases, he said.
The government has planned to open 10 new civil dispensaries in Tirah Khyber Agency besides four civil dispensaries in FR Peshawar this year, he said adding the civil dispensaries would be constructed in Kurram Agency and FR Kohat.
"The federal government has chalked out a comprehensive strategy to set up 12 more civil dispensaries in North Waziristan Agency," he added. Likewise, three civil dispensaries would be established in FR Lakki Marwat. A civil hospital at Makin South Waziristan Agency would be constructed to provide better medical health facilities to the patients at their doorsteps.
About the ongoing schemes, the official said focus are being given to complete ongoing mega projects of Health Nutrition Education Programme (HNEP), Eye Care Services (ECS) in remaining AHQ (Agency Headquarters) hospitals besides Aids Control Programme (ACP) in Fata.
He said that final touches were being given to five community health centres and Nursing School at Bajaur Agency, which would start functioning before the end of current financial year. The schemes due for completion in current fiscal year included 24 community health centres and improvement of BHUs in Mohmand Agency, he said.
In Khyber Agency, the sources further said the renovation of HQ Hospital Landi Kotal and construction of female OPD in AHQ Hospital Landi Kotal would be completed before the end of current fiscal year. Health facilities available in FR Peshawar would be further consolidated besides rehabilitation of AHQ Hospital in Parachinar Kurram Agency.
He said that at least four child health care centres would be opened up in Orakzai Agency this year. In South Waziristan Agency, he said up-gradation of civil hospital Razmak to category B hospital and construction of doctor's hostel in AHQ hospital in Miranshah in North Waziristan Agency would also be completed soon. The federal government has completed two community health centres in FR Lakki Marwat besides improving existing basic health units.
The government will establish 10 community health centres, two BHUs and residences for doctors in AHQ hospital in South Waziristan Agency, he concluded.
