A demonstration was staged at Chowk Manzoor on Sunday jointly by Markazi Jamiat Ahle-Hadith (MJAH), Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), Power Looms Association, Majlis-e-Shehriyan, and Anjuman Tajiran to protest against the publication of blasphemous caricatures in European newspapers.
Participants were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans," End trade and diplomatic ties with blasphemous states," down with United States, Death for Denmark," down with Israel." Hundreds of people chanted anti-Musharraf, anti US slogans and they demanded boycott the products of European states. They also burnt an effigy of George W Bush and national flags of Denmark, USA, Norway, Italy and Israel.
The Demo was addressed by more than a dozen speakers including Allama Khalid Mehmood Nadeem, Allama Inayat-ullah Rehmani (MJAH), Rao Zafar Iqbal (JI), Mufti Hidayat ullah Pasroori (MMA), Intizar Qureshi (MS), Khaliq Qandeel Sindhu Central Secretary General of Power Loom Association, Akhtar Butt and Khalid Qureshi of Anjuman Tajiran. "We would continue our protest till the arrest of newspaper men who made these blasphemous drawings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and we are ready to lay down our lives for this sacred cause," Rao Zafar Iqbal said.
