National Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Amir Hussain has stressed upon the print and electronic media that collective efforts should be made for vanishing the misconceptions and ambiguity about Islam.
Talking to the reporters here on Sunday afternoon he added it was very unfortunate that we were failed in projecting true picture of Islam as a result of which uncertainty had been developed about Islam in foreign countries.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said collective efforts should be made not only for defusing misconceptions but also projecting the golden principles of Islam globally adding that print and electronic media could play a pivotal role in that regard. Condemning the publication of caricatures in some western newspapers he said it was not freedom of expression and termed it a naked aggression against the religion.
Islam is a religion of peace, brotherhood and tolerance and had strongly condemned the brutality against mankind and linking terrorism with Islam was totally wrong, which based on misunderstandings, he said.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain said due efforts of media would help in restoring confidence and reduce misunderstanding world-wide. Besides, the sincere efforts of religious scholars and Ulema at this juncture would also help in creating better understanding about Islam and its philosophy. The government had already taken up the caricature issue seriously and had expressed the resentment with the concerned countries while this sensitive issue had also been discussed at the international forums, said Chaudhry Amir Hussain.
The National Assembly Speaker was heartening to note minorities living in Pakistan had also strongly condemned the publication of caricatures and on this all minorities had expressed complete solidarity with their Muslim brothers.
He stressed upon the media persons, Ulema and religious scholars to exercise common and unified approach for enhancing the prestige and image of the country adding that split thinking enervate the entreaty of the country.
Later talking to the exporters' delegation, the National Assembly Speaker said the business community was playing pivotal role in strengthening the national exchequer. He urged upon the exporters to concentrate on research and development for boosting industrial sector, besides focus special attention on exploring new venues for introducing Pak-made products for fetching maximum foreign exchange for the country. The government has announced several incentives and concessions in current fiscal year for the business community that would surely help promote and flourish the export activities, he was of the opinion.
The Speaker further said that government had already developed a business-friendly and conducive environment aimed at attracting foreign investment in various trade fields adding that a large number of foreign investors have showed their willingness in investing in Pakistan.
Chaudhry Amir Hussain on this occasion highly appreciated the role of business community of Sialkot for undertaking the mega project of Sialkot International Airport, which is first of its kind in the country and being constructed totally on self-help basis. The business community of this export-oriented city has set a role model for others to follow he added.
