A spokesperson for Nawab Akbar Bugti has contradicted reports that the Baloch tribal chief had flown out of the country. "He (Bugti) is among his people in Dera Bugti and is leading them in a war Islamabad had imposed on them," Senator Shahid Bugti told media here on Wednesday.
He was not scared of 'brutal forces' chasing him and would rather prefer to die than leaving either the country or his tribe cowardly, the spokesman added.
Earlier in the day strong rumours surfaced that Nawab Akbar Bugti had flown out of the country and perhaps was attempting to take asylum in neighbouring Iran.
Shahid Bugti said such reports are part of government's propaganda to defame Akbar Bugti and the cause he was fighting for.
The government and the chief of Bugti tribe, Nawab Akbar, who is chairman of Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP), are confronting each other ever since Bugti opposed the establishment of cantonments in some Balochistan cities.
The paramilitary forces and Nawab's armed men had been fighting pitched battles in Dera Bugti in the recent past.
Akbar Bugti has left his home and is in hiding after paramilitary troops tightened the noose around him.
