Punjab Chief Secretary Salman Siddique has said that the present government was encouraging maximum public-private partnership and autonomous mode in the social sectors.
He was talking to World Bank South Asian Regional Director for Human Development Julian Schweitzer who called on him here on Saturday, disclosed an official.
The provincial Secretary Education was also present on this occasion.
During the meeting, the on-going projects and reforms in education and health sectors were discussed in detail.
The Chief Secretary highlighted the progress made under education sector reforms programme. He said that the government has decided to improve the standard of existing degree colleges in the province instead of opening new colleges. In this regard, teachers are being imparted necessary training, apart from giving monetary incentives.
According to him, under the healthcare programme, doctors and paramedics posted in rural areas had been given special pay package and other incentives. Moreover, supply of latest medical equipment is also in the pipeline so that the people living in remote areas could get better health facilities at their doorsteps.
