City District Government Multan (CDGM) has approved a surplus budget of Rs 3,219 million for the year 2005-06. With development outlay of Rs 850 million, Rs 87.5 million for education, Rs 87 million for health.
While major part of Rs 1,830 million would be spent on the salaries of the staff, said City District Nazim Mian Faisal Mukhtar while addressing a press conference here on Saturday.
He said that close circuit cameras would be installed at important business centres and squares with an expenditure of Rs 4.3 million to combat crimes particularly purse snatching, robberies and terrorist activities. He said that Rs 1.5 million would be spent for the conservation of local culture. He said, "we have allocated 32 percent more funds for education than past and we have introduced our own education policy besides granting Rs 100 per month to the girl-students of Sixth to Ninth class in state run schools. 40 new non-formal schools would be opened in Multan district.
Faisal Mukhtar said that all villages would be electrified and potable drinking water would be supplied to all towns and villages without any discrimination.
He told that the house had adopted a resolution unanimously against the blasphemous drawings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and house condemned those countries, which published these caricatures.
He said that provincial government would provide funds of Rs 2,970 million and at least 300-km long roads would be constructed in four years.
