A high level meeting held here on Saturday decided to extend the jurisdiction of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra) in the quake-hit areas to start the reconstruction phase in Azad Kashmir.
The meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Kashif Murtaza, was attended besides others by senior officials, secretaries to the AJK government.
The Chief Secretary also gave approval for the establishment of Erra's district units headed by concerned deputy commissioners in the quake ravaged areas of Azad Kashmir.
The meeting also decided to take appropriate measures for the shifting of some 125,000 victims living in the tents in different tentage villages and to pay them second instalment of Rs 50,000 as compensation to speed up reconstruction and rehabilitation phase.
The meeting was also informed about the NGOs international organisations works and projects in the quake-hit areas.
The meeting decided to constitute a high level committee to look into the matters to keep liaison with the international institutions and NGOs engaged in the projects in the quake hit areas without consultation and collaboration of the AJK government and department concerned.
The Chief Secretary Kashif Murtaza directed the AJK government secretaries to provide reconstruction project documents to the Planning and Development Department in three days.
The meeting directed the AJK Board of Revenue to take steps for the allotment of lands to the October 8 deserving victims to rebuild quake-proof houses.
The AJK Chief Secretary also directed the authorities concerned to take immediate steps for the provision of water, electricity and other necessary facilities in the areas, where the victims have started repatriation to their native towns for reconstruction and rehabilitation phase.
The meeting also directed the Highway, PWD department to ensure the restoration of link roads to make sure travelling facilities to the victims to the affected areas.
The meeting was also attended by ACS General Dr Raja Muhammad Arif Khan, Secretary information Chaudhry Muhammad Khurshid, Commissioner Rehabilitation Saleem Bismal, Secretary Services Fiaz Akhtar, and Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad Chaudhry Liaqat Hussain.
