Punjab Industries, Investment and Commerce Minister Muhammad Ajmal Cheema has said the government has prepared a well-knitted plan for annihilation of "Tat Culture" system from the educational institutions of the province.
Speaking as chief guest at the first convocation of the Government College of Commerce here on Saturday, he said the government had set aside huge funds for the promotion and expansion of education in the province.
The provincial minister said that special attention had been focused on providing missing facilities like washrooms, boundary walls, additional classrooms and drinking water in educational institutions in the province.
In Sialkot district, Ajmal Cheema said the said that Rs 450 million would be spent on the provision of missing facilities in educational institutions of Sialkot district and work on this programme would be carried out shortly.
He called upon the teachers that they should fulfill their duties with honesty, devotion and missionary zeal.
The minister also urged the students that they should complete their education with dedication and share future responsibilities of the country.
Ajmal Cheema said the education is not the responsibility of students alone; it was an effort of tripartite, comprising students, teachers and parents and if anyone of this triangle slackens the results would be distorted. It is, therefore, mandatory for the whole team to keep an eye over the aims and objectives and work relevantly to achieve these goals, he added.
Ajmal Cheema stressed the need for equipping students with the skills and competence enabling them to win the struggles of life without any hindrance. The real education is "learning throughout life" and it enables the learner to meet the challenges of rapidly changing world, he said.
The minister said that learning starts at school where the teach-pupil relationship develops into most creative factor in the learners' life.
On the occasion, he announced that the government would provide bus for providing 'pick and drop' facility for the female students of the college. He asked the college management to introduce third shift in the college for accommodating more girl and boy students in the college.
Government College of Commerce Principal Naseem Hussain Cheema, in his address of welcome, highlighted different problems and achievements of the college. Earlier, the provincial minister distributed gold and silver medals among the boy and girl students on their outstanding performance.
