Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat, NI (M) handed over the command of Pakistan Air Force to Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed, HI (M), S Bt in a dignified ceremony held at Air Headquarters on Saturday.
Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat has retired from service after completing his command tenure. During assumption of command ceremony, Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed was invested with Air Chief Marshal rank badges by the outgoing Air Chief.
After investment of rank badges, Air Chief Marshal Kaleem Saadat presented the Command Sword to his successor. The new Air Chief was presented with guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent. Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed is the eighteenth Chief of Pakistan Air Force.
The ceremony was attended by retired Air Chiefs, Principal Staff Officers and a large number of serving and retired PAF officers.
In his message of the day to PAF personnel, Air Chief Marshal Tanvir Mahmood Ahmed said: "On this momentous day, I make my pledge to the nation and to all of you, my dear servicemen and women, that my tenure in office will (Insha Allah) be characterised by the values of merit, fairness, accountability, dedication, loyalty and involvement towards the mission of the PAF. I am convinced that together, as a team, we all can make it happen.
Our focus must remain on excellence in professionalism, devotion to duty and service, optimum care and training of the human resource, best value for the public funds and total faith in Allah Almighty. May Allah grant all us the strength, vision and energy to live up to the trust reposed in us, as defenders of the aerial frontiers of Pakistan."
