A roundtable to commemorate the Electronic Media Freedom Day was held by the Citizen's Media Commission of Pakistan at a local hotel. A statement said that the theme for the moot was "Freedom and Anarchy in the Electronic Media."
The roundtable was participated by leading personalities from the media, and presentations were made by Duraid Qureshi of Pakistan Broadcaster's Society, Sadiq Lakhani of Cable Operator's Association, Ali Jawwad Rizvi of Citizens Media Commission, while an overview was provided by the founder convenor of CMC, Javed Jabbar, after which the topic was thrown open for discussion.
Some of the resolutions adopted by the participants of the roundtable were: "To press for review and amendment to the laws governing the working of Pemra." Seek review of the Official Secret's Act so that it is not used to unduly curb freedom of access to information "Impress on the electronic media stakeholders to develop a code of ethics reflecting the wishes and values of civil society."
