Federal Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan on Sunday said the government was taking solid steps to make the agriculture sector lucrative for farmers.
Talking to APP, the minister said Sprinkle and Drip Irrigation scheme, to be launched soon, would help ensure availability of water in inaccessible areas.
The government will spend 80 percent amount on this scheme, while the rest of 20 percent would be spent by the farmers, he added.
He said during the present regime unprecedented steps have been taken for the promotion of agriculture sector and welfare of the farming community in the country. Bosan said the farmers are not getting required quantity of water for their lands due to lack of dams. He said with the construction of Bhasha and other dams, the agriculture sector would take quantum jump towards progress.
