Gram Punjab and Isbaghol Bhoosi prices soar while copra Ceylon nose dived on the commodities wholesale markets where modest fluctuations were marked on both ways during the week ended on March 18, 2006.
Marked changes were seen in gram Punjab, Isbaghol Bhoosi, Copra from Ceylon, rapeseeds cakes, wheat, white pepper, big cardamom, bajra, chemicals, moong Punjab, Irri white and milk powder.
The opening session was marked with changes in gram Punjab which gained Rs 100 to Rs 2250/2300, gram dal picked up Rs 75 to Rs 2600/2650, yellow peas Canada rose by Rs 21/30 to Rs 1300/1350, dal Canado picked up Rs 25 to Rs 1450/1470, beetle chana I up Rs 50 to Rs 2335/2385, beetle 50x50 seen at Rs 2260/2300, dal beetle up Rs 75 to Rs 2625 and Rs 2675, Mexipak wheat new and old up Rs 5 to Rs 1125 and Rs 1075.
On Tuesday rapeseed Nawabshah lost Rs 75 to Rs 725/735, Mirpur's inferior rapeseed lost Rs 25 to Rs 725, and better type shed Rs 30 to Rs 515/525, wheat old and new gained Rs 5 to Rs 1130 and Rs 1080, Kirana items white pepper Singapore down Rs 4225, big cardamom up Rs 100 to Rs 8350, Copra Ceylon down Rs 150 to Rs 2400, Isbaghol bhoosi up Rs 250 to Rs 8500 darchini down Rs 50 to Rs 2450 and cloves quoted at Rs 13000.
On Wednesday wheat old and new shed Rs 5 to Rs 1125/1080, bajra drifted lower by Rs 25 and for better type quoted at Rs 1225/1500, chemicals caustic soda flakes Saudia down Re 1 to Rs 34, Sodium Sulphite down 20 paisa to Rs 8, N.J. Taiwan down Rs 2 to Rs 97, Citric acid China up Re 1 to Rs 46, petroleum jelly white Iran down Re 1 to Rs 48, PVA Japan down 80 paisa to Rs 140, caustic down Re 1 to Rs 35, hydrosulphite China 88 percent up Re 1 to Rs 46 and acetic acid down 50 paisa to Rs 70.25.
On Thursday moong Punjab was sharply higher by Rs 125 to Rs 3625, and Irri white low type lost Rs 10 to Rs 880, better type stayed put at Rs 890. Milk powder only change was seen in Melco Veg up 65 to Rs 4300.
On Friday-dyes were mixed such as Congo Red STD up Rs 2 to Rs 47, basic colour Methane Blue 2 B down Rs 5 to Rs 145, Rohdamine up Rs 5 to Rs 155, acrylic dyes Red 3R450 percent up Rs 10 to Rs 320, disperse dyes black BB 25 kg up Rs 5 to Rs 165, helicopter 25 kg up Rs 5 to Rs 195, and Blue BNG down Rs 5 to Rs 190. Grain markets depicted firm conditions on Friday with no change.
