Minister for Irrigation Punjab Aamir Sultan Cheema on Sunday emphasised the World Bank to monitor the remodelling work of Taunsa Barrage minutely to ensure quality control and transparent use of the funds provided by the bank.
He said this during a meeting with a World Bank mission comprising of Xukai Lee, Senior Water Specialist for South Asia and Uzma Sadaf, Procurement Specialist.
The minister said the World Bank should make arrangement for the foolproof audit of funds to ensure better utilisation.
He said remodelling of the barrage was an important national project, which should be completed honestly to get maximum benefits.
According to a handout, Xukai Lee said the World Bank has undertaken all necessary arrangements for the purpose and experts were visiting every month regularly to check the standard of construction material and also give directions for better quality control.
He said World Bank would undertake worth 10 billion projects under strict monitoring and a foolproof vigilance system will monitor it.
