The Indonesian and Indian navies will hold a week-long joint patrol of their maritime border to enhance co-operation in dealing with security threats, a report said Sunday.
The patrol would start on March 26 and be held in the maritime border area between Indonesia's Aceh province and India's Nicobar islands, the state Antara news agency quoted the head of the Sabang naval base in Aceh, Colonel Aswoto as having said.
He said that the joint patrol was part of routine exercises involving the two navies and was the seventh so far.
Indonesia would deploy the KRI Sultan Taha, a corvet and a Nomad navy aircraft and their respective crews, Aswoto said.
