The meetings of Pakistan-India Joint Commission (JC) will begin in Islamabad from Tuesday, a foreign office spokesperson announced on Monday. The meetings of the Working Groups on Environment and Science and Technology will be held on 21 and 22 March respectively.
During President General Pervez Musharraf's visit to India in April last, it was decided to reactivate the JC. The plenary session of JC was held on October 4 last year at Islamabad and it was decided to restructure the four existing sub-commissions of JC into eight technical level working groups on agriculture, health, science & technology, information, education, IT & telecommunications, environment and tourism. These working groups will be headed by joint secretaries.
