Pakistan Railways (PR) is planning to set up a railway station of international standard at Zero point for 'Thar Express.'
According to a spokesman of the Railways, in view of the commitment to commence train services within the timeframe, temporary/make shift arrangements have been provided including passenger shelters, wash rooms, water facility, vending stalls and water coolers for the convenience of passengers at Zero point.
He further said that present agreement does not include operation of lower AC coach in this train and negotiations are being made to provide one Lower AC coach. It is pointed out that the head end generation system over Pakistan Railways requires that an AC coach on the train would need a power generating unit coach as well.
He said that due to security reasons and under an agreement regarding the running of Thar Express between Pakistan-India, the Thar Express has the status of an International Train and is required to run through from all stations between Mirpurkhas-Khokhrapar so that only such passengers travel by this train that hold valid visa to travel between Pakistan-India.
