The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hold National Judicial Conference on March 24 as a part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations, being celebrated this year on the occasion of 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan from 1956 to 2006.
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry will preside over the conference. According to the programme, former Justice Muhammad Haleem, Attorney General for Pakistan, Makhdoom Ali Khan, Vice Chairman of the Pakistan Bar Council, Ali Ahmed Kurd and President of the Supreme Court Bar Association, Malik Muhammad Qayyum will speak on the occasion.
A special presentation of Citations to Jurists (Posthumously) for meritorious services rendered in dispensation of justice will also be made on conclusion of the conference.
According to programme regarding Plaque ceremony scheduled to be held on March 23, a special function will be held at the "Court Room" of Lahore High Court building, where the Supreme Court of Pakistan assembled after promulgation of the 1st Constitution of Pakistan in the year 1956.
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, judges of the Supreme Court, Chief Justice and judges of the Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Chief Justice and judges of the Federal Shariat Court, Chief Justices and judges of all the four high courts of the country, Attorney General for Pakistan, President Supreme Court Bar Association, Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council will participate in the function.
