AJK PPP President Sahibzada Ishaq Zafar has criticised the AJK government for its incompetence and failure to protect the rights of earthquake victims.
Talking to a delegation at Kashmir House Islamabad, he said that PPP would not leave the earthquake-affected people in doldrums and would protect their rights at every front.
He appealed to the federal government to waive off the utility bills in affected areas, pay next instalment of Rs 75000 and provide land for construction of new houses to those victims, who lost their lands in earthquake landslide.
He also demanded of the government not to shift the families from tent villages to their native villages forcefully until to provide them safe shelters and said that PPP would resist the forceful evacuation of tent villages.
The PPP AJK leader said that after winning the next elections his party would provide a house for every family. He appreciated the generous financial help by governments of United States, Britain, Canada, Japan and European Union and expressed the hope that they would continue their assistance for rehabilitation and reconstruction phase.
Ishaq Zafar appealed to the Muslim countries to give visas to the workforce of earthquake survivors to ease the unemployment greatly prevailing in affected areas as most of the people had lost their business and source of livelihood in devastating earthquake. He also appealed to the federal and all the four provincial governments to announce a package for the educated youth of affected areas to provide them employment.
