LAHORE: LPG Association of Pakistan Chairman Farooq Iftikhar said on Wednesday that Punjab government deserves appreciation for safeguarding human lives by cracking down on manufacturing of illegal and unsafe cylinders of LPG.
Farooq Iftikhar said here that increased LPG cylinder accidents were alarming and called for further crackdown on manufacturers of substandard quality cylinders and demanded more check and balance by both OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) and the provincial government.
He said that manufacturers of fake and poor quality cylinders were playing with lives of masses.
He said that these cylinders were mainly being manufactured in Gujranwala and Gujrat therefore strong action against these anti-social elements must be taken on priority.
He said that these low quality cylinders were available at half price of a standard OGRA approved cylinder and this was the main reason for their popularity.
"Both OGRA and the Provincial Government need to advocate for the use of OGRA approved cylinders and take out advertisements to the same effect.
An awareness campaign is required for which the LPG Industry is willing to participate with both OGRA and Punjab government," he added.
