Pakistan made exit from Commonwealth Games table tennis men's singles event when both of its players Farjad Gait and Kashit Razzaq were beaten in the preliminary round matches here on Thursday.
Pakistan's top but aged Farjad was beaten 4-1 by Nigerian Tajudeen Jegede 4-1 before wining the second game, losing the match 11-2, 8-11, 12-10, 11-7, 11-5.
Another Pakistan's top player, Kashif Razzq fell in the identical manner to Guyana's Idi Lewis. The score was 11-6, 11, 11-5, 11-8, 12-10.
With the fall of the two Pakistani players in the table tennis, the Games are over for them.
They could not even qualify for prep quarter finals which reveals years long sincere and devoted efforts are needed at grass roots level to infuse fresh blood to replace aging play ho have crossed their prime in the game and they are usually beaten in the preliminary or first rounds of elite event.
