Cocoa arrivals at ports in Ivory Coast reached 900,006 tonnes between October 1, 2005, and March 19, 2006, according to an estimate by major exporters on Friday.
That compared with 874,147 tonnes delivered to ports during the same period in the 2004/05 season, industry data showed. The figures showed that 6,762 tonnes arrived at ports between March 13-19.
Harvesting for the second annual production cycle, the April-September mid crop, has already begun in the west and farmers say they expect a bumper harvest, mainly thanks to plentiful rainfall during key pod development stages.
