INVITATION TO STAKEHOLDERS LNG POLICY WORKSHOP The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources, Government of Pakistan, invites representatives of national and gas companies, owners, developers and operators of LNG terminals.
Companies engaged in the trade and transportation of LNG as well as potential investors, financial institutions and consortia, to participate in a high level, open workshop on Pakistan's Draft LNG Policy, at Karachi Sheraton on Thursday, March 30, 2006 between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.
The objective of the Workshop is to solicit and consider, tangible and meaningful suggestions pertaining to Draft LNG Policy, formulated recently by the Government of Pakistan. A copy of the Draft LNG Policy has also been placed on the website of the Ministry, www.mnpnt.gop.pk effective March 13, 2006.
All stakeholders are requested to email their written suggestions and comments before the date of the workshop so that these may also be discussed.
Natural gas constitutes about 52% of the total national energy mix in Pakistan today.
Demand is projected to continue to increase at an aggressive rate, growing nearly three times from 1.3 tcf per year in 2005 to nearly 3.9 tcf by 2025. The Government of Pakistan is therefore keenly pursuing local and/or international participation for the development of Pakistan's energy sector, particularly by supplementing indigenous supplies of natural gas with imported LNG and by means of Transnational Pipelines, connecting Pakistan to regional sources of supply.
All interested parties and stakeholders are encouraged to register themselves for the workshop, by phone or through email, with the following: Ms Tania Kasim, ABN-Amro Bank NV, Karachi, Pakistan.
