Following an agreement with the Punjab Industrial Estates (PIE), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines (SNGPL) has formally decided to supply 40 millions meter cubic feet (MCF) gas to Sundar Industrial Estate (SIE) on daily basis.
Work commencement and availability of necessary infrastructure is already under progress between the two sides, a spokesman of PIE said here on Friday.
The work of laying pipeline of gas to Sundar Industrial Estate has already started which will be completed in 9 to 12 months. It may also be noted that the chief minister Punjab had raised the issue with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shaukat Aziz who instructed the ministry of petroleum to provide gas to SIE, the spokesman added.
Following the premier instructions, the petroleum ministry informed that an extension of 5 Km x 16" dia transmission spur and 26 Km distribution network will be required to supply gas to Sundar Industrial Estate and SNGPL would lay the said extension.
The Punjab Industrial Estates & Management Company has already paid Rs 460 million in January 2006 to SNGPL to lay down the main pipeline of 16" and distribution network. It has been informed by PIE that gas would be required in May 2006 to a few factories going into production.
The SNGPL has informed that the entire distribution network shall be laid in one phase subject to availability of road alignment in the estate. The SNGPL shall process applications from individual units, for gas connections and gas pressure for individual industrial units in accordance with the schedule to be announced later.
The SNGPL has also decided to open a fully equipped sub-area office in Sundar Industrial Estate, to handle all kinds of activities including receipt of applications for gas connections, installation of gas connections, billing, maintenance work and other necessary arrangements for perspective buyers very soon. This office is being established on a two acres area.
