Executive Board of National Highway Authority (NHA) on Saturday approved four road projects worth Rs 1.521 billion. The projects are: Lak Pass Tunnel, Noor Jehan-Mango Pir Link Road, Khanuzai-Muslim Bagh and Quetta Western By-pass.
Lak Pass tunnel will be built on BOT basis. M/s I B E X Construction Pvt Ltd will design, construct and operate the tunnel. It has been authorised to collect toll tax for 25 years. According to NHA, it will be their first BOT project.
The board also awarded the construction of Rs 250 million Noor Jehan-Mango Pir Link Road Project in Karachi to M/s Zaheer Khan and Brothers. Expansion contract of Khanuzai-Muslim Bagh, N-50 costing Rs 980 million was granted to M/s Zarghon Eastern to be funded by the government of Pakistan.
Contract for the expansion and repair of Quetta Western By-pass was awarded to M/s S Aalouddin with cost of Rs 290 million.
The meeting chaired by the NHA chairman Major General Farrukh Javed was attended by Arif Mansoor, Malik Mohammad Afzal, Firdous Aalam, Kramatullah Chaudhry, Raja Nausherwan Sultan, Mohammad Kazim Idris, Altaf Ahmed Chaudhry, Colonel Azizul Haq (Retd) and Imtiaz Hussain.
