The government is encouraging women in sports and female students have taken lead in the field of sports, like education. Saba Sadiq, Advisor to Punjab Chief Minister for Social Welfare, expressed these views while addressing the concluding session of the annual games of Adabistan Soofia Girls High School here on Saturday.
She maintained that Pakistani women have to step forward keeping in view the challenges of the present era and by paying special attention towards extracurricular activities along with education a healthy society can be established. She asked female students to work hard to prove their capabilities remaining within their social and religious limits, and should prove their worth in sports sector as well. Role of women in hockey and cricket is laudable, she added.
According to her, the present government has taken practical steps for encouraging female students and Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has launched a scheme for providing free textbooks and monthly stipend to female students due to which literacy rate has been improved substantially.
