Thousands of passengers stranded when locomotives of four Express trains failed to move due to some technical faults developed in them. According to the control office, "132-Down Khanpur-bound Rohi Express stopped at deserted place between Dera Nawab Sahib and Gulab stations as technical fault developed in Locomotive No 8077.
However, the driver himself rectified the fault and moved to destination after an hour.
A locomotive No 4294 of 130-Down Thal Express failed at Gurmani station on Multan-Kotadu section, 21-Up Chiltan Express stopped between Darvesh Lashari-Kotadu station and train delayed for four hours. Another Locomotive No 5216 was sent to site to take the train to Multan.
Karachi-bound 10-Down Allama Iqbal Express delayed for two hours as its locomotive No 6009 failed between Mian Chunnu and Rajpur Nagar stations on Saturday.
A report of PR headquarter said that 106 trains delayed for 148 hours 20 minutes on March 24 only. In Sukkur Division, 34 trains delayed for 87 hours, in Multan Division, 27 trains delayed for 37 hours 55 minutes, in Karachi Division 21 trains reached 18 hours 20 minutes behind schedule, it said.
In Lahore Division, 18 trains delayed for five hour 10 minutes. In Rawalpindi Division six trains delayed by one hour 20 minutes. Only six trains reached at destination according to schedule, the report added.
