Pakistan has sought assistance from the Archaeological Survey of India to help restore a famous Hindu temple in that country, a report said on Monday.
"It is considered as one of the most significant Hindu shrines in Pakistan. Obviously, since it is a Hindu place of worship, we wanted some experts to look into it," the Press Trust of India news agency quoted Pakistan's envoy to India Aziz Ahmed Khan as saying.
The Katas Raj temple - located near Pakistan's Chakwal city in Punjab province - is devoted to the Hindu god of destruction Shiva and is mentioned in the ancient Hindu epic, the Mahabharat.
The temple, which is revered by Hindus, is also popular among Sikhs.
India and Pakistan are slowly mending ties and have launched a peace bid two years ago which is making headway in improving relations. However, the two still have not made headway on the key issue of Kashmir.
