Sales Tax and Central Excise Collector Liaquat Ali Agha has said that provision of all sales tax-related facilities to business community were included in the top priority of the Central Board of Revenue (CBR).
Addressing a meeting of the industrialists and traders here at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Wednesday, he said to facilitate business community, the CBR has taken steps like new system of electronic filing returns, DTRE for the promotion of export and refund. He, however, termed the co-operation of business community a pre-requisite for the success of the measures.
The collector told the meeting that electronic return filing system has been introduced for discouraging the filing of fake returns, saying that scheme would ensure facilitation of the taxpayers.
He said the Collectorate of Sales Tax, Peshawar, has no problem in the payment of the refund. He, however, said some cases would be cleared after completion of required formalities, adding that departments working under the supervision of the CBR were not only collecting taxes, but also providing facilities to business community.
Earlier, addressing the meeting, Sarhad Chamber President Ghazanfar Bilour stressed the need for establishing cordial and friendly atmosphere between business community and tax collection machinery of the country. He, however, said that better reforms had brought positive changes in the behaviour of the officials of the tax collecting institutions.
He also pin-pointed some tax-related problems of the business community and demanded their early resolution.
Prominent those present in the meeting were Sarhad Chamber SVP Inayat Khan, additional collector and members of the executive committee.
