The Punjab government is spending more than Rs 1.3 billion on equipping social security hospitals with ultra-modern machinery and construction of social security hospitals in the province.
The official sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that out of this amount, Rs 310 million would be spent on the provision of CT scan and angiographies and many other latest types of equipment were being provided in social security hospitals.
Besides, more than Rs 710 million were being utilised on the construction of seven social security hospitals in different cities of the province.
Under the programme, 100-bed hospitals were being constructed at Sialkot, Shahdra, Gujrat and Kot Lakhpat, while 50-bed hospitals are being constructed Sargodha, Chakwal and Toba Take Singh.
The government had taken the step for providing modern treatment facilities to the industrial workers and their dependants at their doorstep, the sources added.
